Sometimes starting with a disclaimer helps. "I am afraid you will feel criticized by what I want to tell you. It isn't about you doing something wrong; it's about trying to improve something that I think could work better between us. Is this a good time to talk about it?" If you get agreement, talk about a very specific change you would like and why it would be valuable to you. (How you will feel.) Wash, rinse and repeat as necessary.

If you do not get agreement to have the conversation now, ask when would be a good time and try to have it then.

I have other suggestions if this doesn't work. I see that you are now enrolled in The Integrity Course and many of the business suggestions you will find there are also applicable in personal situations.
